Everything You Need To Know About The 2017 EA Press Conference

Wow. Where do I begin? How bout from the top?!

First game we saw in EA's press conference was Madden 18: Long Shot. What's that? It's Madden with a story mode...Yup! I haven't been intrigued by a Madden game in 10+ years, but this one has caught my eye. Your character has to work his way up to get to the NFL, from High School to College. I would imagine you won't have to take the classes the character would have to take, unless of course it's watching film in the locker room. They also showed what Madden would look like with Project Scorpio. Pretty...

After that they went to Battlefield 1. They introduced Battlefield 1's next DLC, it's called In the Name of the Tsa. The DLC looks at World War I’s Eastern front through the eyes of, among others, the Women’s Battalion of Death which was tweeted earlier by Battlefield's twitter feed.

The DLC adds six new maps, eleven new weapons, and some new vehicles which all of them have not been released yet. There will also be a competitive game mode without 100 players in the game, I'd imagine between 6-10 soldiers per team. Can someone say Overwatch?!? Hey, the game mode works! The first of the six maps will be released this month, it is called Nivelle Nights...

Then came FIFA 18. They showed some cut screens and was told with Project Scorpio, of course, the game looks better than it has ever. With FIFA 18 they actually put Cristiano Ronaldo in a mocap suit to really get the best feel for when you play as Ronaldo and other players. We are being told the gameplay is smoother than ever and the stadiums fool you to make you think you are actually there. Also, EA seems to be really pushing their competitive mode for FIFA. Nintendo did announce that FIFA 18 will be coming out on the Nintendo Switch September 29th 2017.

EA then introduced Need For Speed: Payback. It seems to be a trend this year with EA, they are giving games story lines. I know prior Need For Speed titles had a loose story line if any and just concentrated on the driving aspect. Now they are taking the extra step by getting the story line as well as the amazingly fluid and responsive driving in the game. The game play looks crisp and the story line looks like it's full of heists as well as online multiplayer.

I'll be honest, this next one excited me the most, and no it's not Star Wars Battlefront 2...I'm getting to that. No, this one is an original title and comes from the makers of Brothers: A Tale Of Two Sons, this ones titled A Way Out. It's about two guys that end up in prison together and they are trying to break out and escape. It is a co-op game, EA said you can play online with a partner but if you want to get the full experience of the game they suggest you play next to your buddy ON THE COUCH! The game is setup to be split screen co-op, which, in this case while one of you are walking around getting supplies the other is doing something completely different or in a cut scene. Yes, play as one while the other is in a cut scene, I know, unheard of.

I love how someone is finally embracing the old school retro feel of playing with a buddy in the same room. I actually might like that aspect more than video games themselves...it's close. Well...you get it. Can't wait!

After that came just a tease of a new IP, from Bioware, titled Anthem. EA said we will see more on this game tomorrow at the Microsoft press conference. From what I saw it was just cut scenes, but it's a sci-fi space fighter type game, where it seems you wear this suit that protects you from...what? I guess we'll see...

Then they got into the new features in NBA Live 18. It is a new street ball community with, you guessed it, a story line! Yes, you have to play at the bottom and work your way to the NBA, playing NBA legends on actual real life playground courts along the way. EA are calling this new mode The One. If you are anything like Game Fix' own Link, this is something you will be looking out for.

Now, the moment you all are waiting for. And yes, the wait is worth it. Star Wars: Battlefront 2 was saved for the end, and for good reason. The story line in this game actually bridges the gap between the movies Return Of The Jedi and The Force Awakens. That info in itself might be enough for me to buy it, but wait, there's more!

This game looks absolutely stunning. More heros, more maps, more lasers, more pew pew pew!!! EA explained they aimed to fix all the problems the first one had. They concentrated most of the Star Wars presentation on the multiplayer game play, 30 minutes of actual game play to be exact. This game is chock full of all kinds of fighters, heros, vehicles, pistols, and for real, you get to ride an AT-AR...what's cooler than that??

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 will be released on November 17, 2017. EA also mentioned that during the holidays is the first DLC and it will be FREE! That DLC will feature hero Finn from The Force Awakens.

Like I said, wow, what a press conference! Another thing that is worth mentioning is that EA Access and EA Origin is now free through the end of E3, so get on it and play!
